Council of Nursing Students – The Legislative Assembly

The Legislative Assembly is the primary law-making body of the Council of Nursing Students. It is composed of four (4) Year Level Councilors and four (4) Deputy Councilors—one pair from each year level—who are responsible for formulating student-centered laws, approving the General Appropriations Act, confirming appointments to the executive branch, and conducting impeachment investigations. The Assembly is convened and presided over by the Executive Vice President, serving as Assembly Convener.

Legislative sessions follow a three-reading process, with each bill addressing a single subject and being subject to advisory opinions from the Council Trial Court. The Assembly can override a presidential veto by a two-thirds vote. The Assembly also includes non-voting officers such as the Legislative Secretary and Legislative Finance Officer, who assist in documentation and fiscal oversight. Through a structured, student-representative, and transparent process, the Legislative Assembly ensures accountable governance and responsive policy-making for the nursing student body.
